A Welsh girl

Born in or about 1843 at Painswick in Gloucestershire, Edward Richard Gyde was the son of farmer Samuel Gyde. He began his working life as a commercial traveller, but by 1871 he had established a studio in Gloucester. In 1873 he married Elizabeth Poole and moved to Aberysthwyth. A trade directory of 1875 lists him at 28 Pier Street in Aberystwyth.

He died on 18 May 1919 at Bryn Rheidol, Prenparke Road, Aberystwyth, leaving an estate valued at £3483.
