[From an album probably compiled by the sitter’s aunt. The majority of the portraits in the album show members of the Newcome and Mangles families. The person who linked the two families was Harriet Mangles née Newcome, who in 1830 married Ross Donnelly Mangles, the Member of Parliament for Guildford from 1841 to 1857 and later Chairman of the East India Company.]
