Young girl of Portobello

A carte de visite portrait of a young girl dressed in the costume traditionally adopted by the fishwives of Newhaven near Edinburgh. The sitter is a possibly a fisherman's daughter although the possibility also exists that she's been dressed up by the photographer in order to produce an appealing portrait that will sell well.
