The stables of the Royal Pavilion, Brighton

The stables of the Royal Pavilion, Brighton

Built in Indo-Saracen style to designs by William Porden, work began on the Royal Pavilion's stables and riding school in 1803 and was completed in 1808, though the stables were in use by 1806. The central glass dome measures 80 feet (24 m) in diameter. Directly below this was a large lotus-shaped fountain which was used to water the horses.

Today the building houses the Corn Exchange, a concert venue and a small theatre.
