Arthur Carnegy Capel


Born on 26 September 1862 in Kensington, Arthur Carnegy Capel was baptised at St Stephen’s Church in Paddington on 26 September 1862. He was the first son and fifth child of Arthur Risdon Capel, later Arthur Risdon Capel Carnegy Arbuthnott, a tea merchant and for many years the Treasurer of the London Orphan Asylum at Watford.

At the time of the 1871 census, he was living with his parents and siblings at 61 Prince’s Square, Paddington. The household also included five servants.

Arthur was educated at Winchester and at New College, Oxford (BA, 1884).

He died on 24 December 1887, aged only 25, at 9 Bramham Gardens, South Kensington. He left an estate valued at £8275.
