Colquhoun Scott Dodgson


An inked inscription verso in a period hand identifies the sitter as ‘Colquhoun Scott Dodgson, 21 months old,’ and gives the date, February 1869.

Born on 4 May 1867, Colquhoun Scott Dodgson was baptised on 7 June 1867 at St James’s, Paddington. His father was John Crawford Dodgson of the Bengal Civil Service. His mother was Agnes née Jenkins.

Educated at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, he entered the Army with the rank of Lieutenant on 11 February 1888, eventually rising to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Army Service Corps.

Colquhoun Scott Dodgson never married. He died, aged 80, on 4 November 1947 at The United Services Hotel in Cromwell Road, Kensington. He left an estate valued at £18,403.
