Louis Alexander Henderson

A carte-de-visite portrait of Louis Alexander Henderson (1878-1944).

Born in or about 1878 at Linlithgow in West Lothian, he was the third son of William Horn Henderson and Elizabeth née Barron. According to the 1881 census, his father was a solicitor and procurator fiscal (a public prosecutor in Scotland). At the time of the census, the family were living at 41 High Street, Linlithgow.

On 21 March 1912 he arrived at New York aboard the Olympic. According to the ship's passenger list, he was already a 'Rancher' living in Canada.

He appears on the 1921 Canadian census living at Fort Qu'Appelle in Southern Saskatchewan. He had emigrated to Canada in 1902 and was by now a 'Farmer.'

He died, aged 66, at Victoria in British Colombia on 26 November 1944.

Photographed by Ramsay of Bridge of Allen, a small town just north of the city of Stirling.
