Linlithgow Palace

Linlithgow Palace

A carte-de-visite showing a view of the ruins of Linlithgow Palace, about 15 miles west of Edinburgh. During the 15th and 16th centuries, the palace was one of the principal residences of the monarchs of Scotland. It was little used after Scotland's monarchs left for England in 1603 and in 1746 a fire destroyed much of the interior.

Photographed by Lennie of Edinburgh.
