A carte-de-visite designed to be given as a greetings card at Christmas, personalised by the addition of the well-wisher's own portrait.
An inked inscription verso in a period hand reads: 'I don't send this because I'm anxious to be pushing my face - my sweet face (a voice (hear, hear) - but for the novelty of the thing. Please give it to Eliza if she will accept it as you have one.'
Photographed by E.A. Carnell of New Radford near Nottingham.
