Reverend John Frewen Moor

Reverend John Frewen Moor

A carte-de-visite portrait of the Reverend John Frewen Moor, who was the Vicar of Ampfield in Hampshire from 1853 to 1895.

Born at Bradfield in Berkshire in 1823, he was educated at Oriel College, Oxford and like his father before him he took the cloth. On 23 November 1853 he married Frances Dorothy Grimston, daughter of a Colonel in the East Yorkshire Militia. Their marriage produced four sons and one daughter.

Moor resigned his living in 1895 due to his increasing age and deteriorating eyesight. He died on 5 January 1906 at Chislehurst in Kent, leaving his family an estate valued at £23,924.
