Unidentified musicians

An unusual cabinet card portrait showing a group portrait of four musicians and a small child hugging a dog. The portrait is half-photograph and half-drawing. The heads of all the sitters are photographs while their bodies are cartoon-like sketches. Even the dog is half-drawing and half-photograph.

The woman at the centre of the group is playing an upright piano, the two men behind her are both playing violins, and the man on the left is playing a cello. The similarity in age of the three men militates against this being a family group, while the presence of the child and dog suggests that the musicians are not a professional quartet.
