Stuart Naville Corlett

Stuart Naville Corlett

A carte-de-visite portrait of a young boy identified verso as Stuart Naville Corlett, born 1 November 1854.

According to the 1881 census, he was born at Alexandria in Egypt. At the time of the census, he was a ‘wine agent’ living at Sutton in Surrey with his wife Flora and their young son, Dudley.

A quick search of the BMD index reveals that his wife’s maiden name was Florence Mann and the couple were married in London (St George’s Hanover Square) in 1879. Their son Dudley Stuart Corlett was born in 1880.

In 1911 Corlett père was still a ‘wine agent’, living at 95 Prince of Wales Mansions in Battersea with another son, Humphrey, who was a twenty-two-year-old ‘bank clerk.'

Photographed by Negretti and Zambra at the Crystal Palace in Sydenham, Kent.
