The Bowder Stone at Borrowdale

A carte-de-visite showing tourists visiting the Bowder Stone at Borrowdale in Cumbria. Its name most likely comes from the Norse god Odin's son, Baldr.

A large glacial erratic, the stone is estimated to weigh around 2000 tons and is about 30 feet (9 meters) high. There is still a wooden staircase allowing visitors to climb to the top.
