Castle Street in Farnham

Castle Street in Farnham

A topographical carte-de-visite showing a view of Castle Street in the Surrey town of Farnham. The building at the centre of the composition is Knight Brothers Bank, designed by the renowned architect Richard Norman Shaw and completed in 1868. The four-floored timber-framed building dominated the skyline and dwarfed all the other buildings in the street until it was demolished and replaced by the present Lloyds Bank in 1932.

Photographed by Sands and Co of Farnham, Surrey.
