William Wilberforce Bird

William Wilberforce Bird

Identified in the Silvy daybooks as 'Wilberforce Bird', this is probably William Wilberforce Bird, born in Calcutta on 13 February 1848, the son of William Wilberforce Bird and his wife, Ann.

His father served in the Honourble East India Company and in 1844 was briefly the Governor-General of India during the interval between the recall of Lord Ellenborough and the arrival of Sir Henry Hardinge.

Photographed by Camille Silvy of London on 24 September 1860.
