The Albert Memorial


An albumen print view of the Albert Memorial. Commissioned by Queen Victoria in memory of her beloved husband, the memorial was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott in the Gothic Revival style. It was opened by Queen Victoria in July 1872, and the statue of Prince Albert ceremonially 'seated' in 1875.
