Roadside fruitier and greengrocer

A cabinet card showing a man, his wife and child stalled out at the side of the road and selling a variety of goods. According to the information painted on the side of his cart, his name is 'H.R. Oakley' and his business was established in 1886. In addition to selling fruit and vegetables -very few of either appear among his wares - he also provided a service removing luggage 'to and from the station'.

Photographed by W. Edmond Wallis of Orpington in Kent.
