Rev. John David Glennie (1797-1874)


John David Glennie was the eldest of the 13 children of Dr William Glennie, who ran a school in Dulwich once attended by Lord Byron. He entered the Church and became the minister of Park Street Chapel in Mayfair. He was also Secretary of the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge. He appears on the 1861 census, living with his family at 51, Green Street, Mayfair.

His son, also John David Glennie, was Vicar of Croxton, near Eccleshall in Staffordshire. His first cousin was the celebrated golfer George Glennie.
