Queen Victoria and the Yorks

A cabinet card portrait of Queen Victoria with her grandson, Prince George, Duke of York, later King George V, and his wife, Princess Mary, the Duchess of York, later Queen Mary.

According to a caption printed recto in the lower margin, the photograph was taken at Osborne in August 1893. The photograph was probably taken to celebrate the marriage of Prince George to Princess Mary, formerly Princess May of Teck, which had taken place the previous month on 6 July 1893.

Photographed by Hughes and Mullins of Ryde on the Isle of Wight.
