Private Murdoch Morison

Private Murdoch Morison

An inked inscription verso in a period hand identifies the sitter as ‘Murdoch Morison.’ This is possibly Private Murdoch Morrison who appears on the 1871 census, a piper with the Second Battalion of the Scots Fusilier Guards stationed at Chelsea Barracks in London.

Aged 24 at the time of the census, he was born in Scotland in or about 1847.
