Princess Maud with stuffed bird


A carte-de-visite portrait of Prince Edward and Princess Alexandra’s youngest daughter, Princess Maud of Wales (1869-1938), who married her first cousin, Prince Carl of Denmark, in 1896. Her husband later ascended the Norwegian throne as Haakon VII and Maud became Queen of Norway. She died in London on 20 November 1938, aged 68. Her body was returned to Norway and buried in the royal mausoleum in Oslo.
