Newhaven fishwife

A carte-de-visite portrait of a fishwife from the coastal village of Newhaven near Edinburgh. With their distinctive striped skirts, the women of Newhaven were a familiar sight selling their wares on the streets of Edinburgh and proved a popular subject among local photographers.
