A carte-de-visite portrait of Miss Hester King (1838-1915).

Born Hester Fortescue King at Woburn Lodge in Chertsey [Surrey] in 1837, her parents were Hon. Peter John Locke King, the M.P. for East Surrey, and his wife Louisa Elizabeth née Hoare.

Miss Hester Fortescue King never married. She died at Brooklands in 1915.

Her brother was the entrepreneur Sir Hugh Fortescue Locke King (1848-1926), who founded and financed the creation of Brooklands, the motor racing circuit and airfield near Weybridge in Surrey.
