Miss Constance Monk

Constance Monk appears on the 1861 census, the three-year-old daughter of Barrister-at-Law Charles James Monk, of Everleigh in Wiltshire. Her slightly older sisters Marietta and Alice also appear in the Silvy daybooks, visiting the studio on 11 June 1863.

She was born at Paddington in London on 6 September 1857. On 20 November 1882 she married army officer Eugene Ayshford Sanford. The marriage produced three children.

Mrs Constance Sanford died at Abergavenny in Wales on 18 December 1939, aged 82.

Photographed by Camille Silvy on 24 June 1862.
