Marchioness of Abercorn


A carte-de-visite portrait of the Marchioness of Abercorn (1812-1905).

Lady Abercorn, née Louisa Jane Russell, was the 2nd daughter of the 6th Duke of Bedford. On 25 October 1832 she married James Hamilton, 2nd Marquess of Abercorn (1st Duke of Abercorn in the Irish peerage). Her husband was Lord Lieutenant of Ireland from 1866 to 1868, and again from 1874 to 1876.

She died on 31 March 1905, aged 92, at Coates Castle at Pulborough in Sussex.
