Mar Joseph VI Audo

Mar Joseph VI Audo

Mar Joseph VI Audo (sometimes Audu or Oddo) was the Patriarch of the Chaldean Catholic Church from 1847 to 1878. He clashed with Pope Pius IX when he attempted to extend the Chaldean jurisdiction over the Indian Syro-Malabar Catholic Church.

The Chaldean Church is a branch of the Catholic Church in Eastern Syria, maintaining full communion with the Bishop of Rome and the rest of the Catholic Church. The Chaldean Catholic Church presently comprises an estimated one and half million Chaldean Christians who are ethnic Assyrians.
