Lord Henry Gordon-Lennox

A carte-de-visite portrait of Lord Henry Gordon-Lennox (1821-1886).

Born on 2 November 1821, he was the third son of Charles Gordon-Lennox (1791-1860), 5th Duke of Richmond, and Lady Caroline Paget. Educated at Oxford, he entered Parliament as the Member of Parliament for Chichester in 1846 and held his seat until 1885. He held the office of Secretary of the Admiralty in 1868 and at one time served as a Lord of the Treasury. He held the office of First Commissioner of Works between 1874 and 1876.

He married Amelia Susannah Brooman on 25 January 1883.

He died on 29 August 1886 at the age of 47.
