A carte-de-visite portrait of Lieutenant A.S. Harington (1839-1878) of the Rifle Brigade.

Born in 1839, Alexander Stuart Harington was the son of Robert Harington and his wife Charlotte (née Stuart). In 1875 he married Ellinor Bourne, daughter of R.C. Bourne.

Alexander Stuart Harington joined the Rifle Brigade by purchase on 15 June 1859. He became a Lieutenant on 22 March 1864. He died in 1879.
