A carte-de-visite portrait of Lady Isabella Schuster (1832-1906).

Born Lady Isabella Emma Elizabeth Fitzmaurice in 1832, she was the daughter of the 5th Earl of Orkney. She married Samuel Leopold Schuster on 11 October 1858. Her husband was the son of the railway entrepreneur Leo Schuster, director of the London-Brighton railway.

The couple appear on the 1861 census, living at 18, Queen’s Gate, on the south side of Hyde Park, with their young son and daughter, and four servants. Samuel Schuster gave as his profession 'merchant and captain of militia’.

After his death in 1884, Lady Schuster married secondly on 11 January 1886 Lieuenant-General Hon. Hussey Fane Keane.

She was the author of Hands, Not Hearts, published in London in 1878. She died on 4 August 1906.
