John St Vincent Parker-Jervis


John St Vincent Parker-Jervis was born on 25 September 1840 at Innerleithen in Peebleshire, the second son of the Honourable Edward Swynfen Jervis and his wife Mary (née Barker). His paternal grandfather was Edward Jervis Jervis, 2nd Viscount St Vincent.

In 1857 his father enlarged and improved the family home, Little Aston Hall, a Georgian house with park and lake in Staffordshire.

John was educated at Merton College, Oxford (BA, 1861; MA, 1865). On 20 April 1876 he married Anne Hotham, the daughter of the Reverend Edwin Hotham, at St James’s Church, Piccadilly. The marriage produced no children.

He died at Clifton on 4 January 1892, aged 51. His widow Anne died on 25 April 1920, aged 83. He was buried in the Parker-Jervis family mausoleum in the churchyard of St Saviour’s, Aston-by-Stone, Staffordshire.
