John Platts

John Platts

A carte-de-visite portrait of a man identified verso as John Platts. I'm told he was an itinerant pedlar and a well-known figure in the area. He is possibly the John Platts who died in the Bakewell workhouse on 20 July 1872, at the age of 75.

Photographed by William Housley of Matlock in Derbyshire.
