Indian Famine Orphans

Indian Famine Orphans

A carte-de-visite portrait of three small Indian girls. An inked inscription recto in the lower margin reads: '3 Little Indian Famine Orphan Girls c/o the Miss Campbells'. Presumably these are three children rescued from the Great Famine of 1876-1878 and brought back to England by some sisters called Campbell.

Photographed by the London Stereoscopic Company.
