Earl of Lanesborough

George John Danvers Butler was born on 6 December 1794, the son of Augustus Richard Butler and Mary née Danvers. On 29 August 1815 he married Francis Arabella Fremantle, daughter of Colonel Stephen Francis William Fremantle,

He succeeded his cousin in 1847, becoming the 5th Earl of Lanesborough in the peerage of Ireland. In 1849 he was elected a representative peer.

He died on 7 July 1866 at age 71 and was succeeded by his half-brother’s son, Captain John Vansittart Danvers-Butler.
