Cloisters at Gloucester Cathedral

A carte-de-visite showing a view of the 14th-century lavatorium in the cloisters Gloucester Cathedral. Monks were required to wash before meals and thus all mediaeval monastic buildings had a communal washing area, usually adjacent to the refectory.
