Captain Walter Duncombe


Walter Henry Octavius Duncombe was born on 21 May 1846, the son of Hon. Octavius Duncombe and Lady Emily Caroline Campbell. His grandfathers were Charles Duncombe, 1st Baron Feversham of Duncombe Park, and Frederick Campbell of Cawdor, 1st Earl Cawdor of Castlemartin.

He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 1st Life Guards and was later Honorary Colonel of the Suffolk Regiment (4th Battalion). He lived at Westerdale Hall near Grosmont in Yorkshire and at Waresley Park, Bedfordshire. He never married and died on 6 January 1917, aged 70.
