Bishop of Poitiers

Louis-Édouard-François-Desiré Pie was born in 1815 and ordained in 1835. He was appointed Bishop of Poitiers in 1849 and created a cardinal in 1879. He died on 18 May 1880 at Angoulême.

He was known for his ultramontanism and for his defence of the social reign of Christ the King.
