A carte-de-visite portrait of the Member of Parliament Anthony Lefroy (1800-1890).

Born in Dublin in 1800, and educated at Trinity College, Dublin (BA 1820, MA 1832, LL.B. and LL.D. 1864), Anthony Lefroy was the Member of Parliament for County Longford 1830-1832, 1833-1837, and 1842-1847; he also contested County Longford in 1832, 1837, 1841, and 1857. From 1858 to 1870 he was the Member of Parliament for the University of Dublin.

Mr Lefroy lived at Carriglass Manor, County Longford, Ireland (where he owned 4229 acres), and at 84 Eaton Square, London. He died on 12 January 1890.
