Adelina Patti

According to some sources, this carte-de-visite portrait shows the great soprano Adelina Patti dressed as Violetta in Verdi's La traviata. However, I think it more likely that it shows her en civil and that this is probably the portrait that once appeared in the Silvy daybooks (Volume 4, page 306, sitting number 5295), taken during the first week of August 1861. No photograph appears with this entry in the daybooks.
