A stuffed monkey

A carte-de-visite showing a small stuffed monkey. Wearing a roughly made academic gown and mortar board, he's perched atop three seminal works by the father of evolutionary theory Charles Darwin: The Descent of Man (1871) The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals (1872) and On the Origin of Species (1859).

Photographed by Hills and Saunders of Cambridge [with branches in Oxford, Rugby, Eton, Harrow and London).
