A Brazilian woman

Gregoria

A carte-de-visite portrait of Brazilian woman identified verso as 'Gregoria'. Since Brazil didn't abolish slavery until 1888, the possibility exists that she might be a slave.

Photographed by Christiano Junior of Rio de Janeiro.
