Boulogne fisherwoman

Photographed by Mons. Louis of London and Boulogne.

According to an advertisement that Monsieur Louis ran in a number of different newspapers in 1863 and 1864: 'Mons. LOUIS, as an Artist and Photographer, has been known to the Public ever since 1847. Being assisted by his sons and other talented operators, all his pictures are invariably good; in fact, he allows none to be taken away that are bot quite satisfactory, and in all cases GUARANTEES a likeness equal to any extended in London or Paris, at considerably lower prices' (South London Chronicle, 26 December 1863).
