The album was most probably compiled by Marianne Charlotte Isabelle Gilbert, daughter of William Peters, banker, of Beckenham Place Kent. Her husband was Colonel Walter Raleigh Gilbert (1813-1896), the Chief Constable of the County of Cornwall, and in 1861 a Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Artillery, but retired on half-pay, and later, of the 1st Cornwall Artillery Volunteers.]
