The following is an extract from Sussex in the 20th Century (published 1910):

'Thurlow, Major Edward Hovell Thurlow (1839-1925), of Buckham Hill House, Uckfield. Son of the Rev. Chancellor Thurlow [who also appears in the daybooks], born Beverley, Yorks. 24 January 1839; educated at the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich. Late of the Royal Artilley. Married in 1875 Georgina Violet, daughter of George Dodd, MP for Maidstone, and has issue Editha Accituna, wife of Captain R.C. Griffin, late Royal Sussex Regiment. Club: Army and Navy.'
