'The Lost Ring'

'The Lost Ring'

A humorous carte-de-visite showing a bridal party in search of a dropped wedding ring. A caption printed in the lower margin gives the title.

The image bears all the hallmarks of having originally been a stereoview, probably one created in the 1850s before the craze for cartes-de-visite became all the rage.

Photographer unidentified.
