'Thanatos'

A cabinet card portrait of an actor dressed as 'Death' ['thanatos' in Ancient Greek].

An inked inscription on the print in the upper left-hand corner reads 'thanatos,' written in the Greek alphabet. Another inscription in the lower right-hand corner reads 'Yrs till Death.'

Based on another portrait I have of him, I think that this might be the Australian actor Giorgio Majeroni (later George Majeroni). Born on 11 January 1877 in Melbourne, Australia, he appeared in a number of silent movies, including The Sign of the Cross in 1914. He died on 5 August 1924 at Saranac Lake, New York, USA.
