'Patience'


A Woodburytype published in The Theatre (No. 19, 3rd series), this photograph shows three of the male leads who appeared in the original 1881 production of Gilbert and Sullivan's Patience at the Opera Comique. The three men are Richard Temple (as Colonel Claverley), Durward Lely (as the Duke of Dunstable) and Frank Thornton (as Major Murgatroyd).
