'Mr Swiney and Captain Bond'

'Mr Swiney and Captain Bond'

An albumen print portrait of two men identified on the album page as 'Mr Swiney and Capt. Bond / 69th Regt.' The photograph was taken in Montreal in 1868.

Hart's Army List (1867) records Lieutenant Edward Staples Bond and Ensign Henry Stephen Swiney serving with the 69th (The South Lincolnshire) Regiment of Foot.

The possibility exists that the dog in the portrait is a stuffed studio prop.

Photographed by William Notman of Montreal [and branches].
