'Dégagé'

'Dégagé'

The inscription on the reverse of the mount can best be translated as 'carefree' or 'untrammelled' but the word also carries the sense of being informal and at ease.

Another inscription, not in the same hand, gives the name 'H. Wyte de Marisco', possibly the sitter or possibly the original recipient of the photograph.

Photographed by the Theweneti Brothers of Bath.
