'273 years'

Inscriptions in a period hand in the lower margin identify these Scottish ladies as Mrs Stewart, Mrs Hutchison, Mother Bell and Mrs Hood. Another inscription in the upper margin reads '273 years,' meaning that this is the sum total of their ages.
