A carte-de-visite portrait of two unidentified men, presumably 'weepers' or at least employees of a funeral parlour.
Weepers were professional mourners hired to follow the coffin at a funeral and look suitably lugubrious.
Photographed by Edgar Drewett of Guildford in Surrey.
According to a pencilled inscription verso in a period hand, the photograph was taken on 8 October 1866.
